Celebrating the Life of Ron Corbett
This fundraising event for The History Center hopes to put the "fun" in funeral, celebrating the life of Cedar Rapids mayor Ron Corbett—who is very much alive.
A Satirical Undertaking—Celebrating the Life of Mayor Ron Corbett reflects the fact that The History Center's future home, the Douglas Manson, was a mortuary for over eight decades. The event will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 5:30 on the grounds of the Douglas Mansion (800 2nd Ave. SE).
A Satirical Undertaking is an outdoor event featuring a performance by actors from SPT Theatre, providing a comedic reflection on Corbett's life and career. The mock eulogy will be written by Adam Witte and Dave Martino, both writers for SPT Theatre's "Tales from the Writers' Room" series. Food, beer, and wine are included in the ticket price.
"What a great evening for a great cause. We loved the opportunity to have an insider's tour of the mansion, to socialize with friends, and to laugh through a good-hearted send up of the dearly departed." – Doug and Gayle Elliot
"Throw friends, food, drink and hilarious comedy (at a local celebrity's expense) under a big circus tent on a summer night in an historic setting and you can't lose. The History Center has come up with the perfect formula for FUN and fundraising. We can't wait to see who's on the spit this year!" – Bradley G. and Jade Hart
